Easy day trips in the fjord landscape

Here are our three favorites, without the demanding climbs.

The romantic road

Along the Lusterfjord with great attractions along the way

The attractions are lined up along this road, a varied and exciting day!
Along a low-traffic village road, with the fjord on one side and high mountains on the other.

Experiences along the way
Urnes Stave Church, located on a hill just after arriving by ferry. The church is on UNESCO's list of special monuments. Guided tour. Café.
Munthehuset. This is where Gerhard Munthe gathered his artist friends, such as Flintoe, J.C. Dahl, Adolph Tidemand and Thomas Fearnley. Guided tour by appointment.
Feigumfossen, Norway's second highest unregulated waterfall (218 m). Approx. 1/2 hour walk up to the waterfall, along a well-marked path.
Lerum Museum is located at Sørheim, with production facilities from 1909 and an old shop. Guided tour by appointment.
Galleri Walaker is located in idyllic Solvorn, with well-preserved buildings from the days when the area had a busy steamboat quay and shops of all kinds.

Practical implementation:
You can rent a bike here; www.eplet.net . Telephone 41 64 94 69.

Drive to Solvorn, where the car can be parked and bicycles can be rented. Take the ferry over to Urnes, where you start the cycle tour inland along the fjord. It is recommended to cycle approx. 25 km before you return to Urnes, or turn around when you think the trip has become long enough,

The fittest can take the whole trip around Lusterfjorden, approx. 80 km.

Mountain and bike tour to Drivandefossen

Join Adventure Tours Norway in Skjolden on a mountain and bike tour through the natural and cultural landscape in Mørkridsdalen and experience the mighty Drivandefossen up close.

The tour starts from Skjolden and continues approximately 7 km on the bicycle seat into Mørkridsdalen, which is one of the most important gateways to Breheimen National Park. Along the way, you will experience the beautiful landscape, Mørkridselva, and hear the guide tell you about the valley's development from a nature reserve to a national park.

After about an hour of cycling, we park and start walking on the path that leads towards Drivandefossen. After approx. 30 minutes of leisurely walking brings you to the impressive Drivandefossen. At the waterfall you can relax, hear some local stories and taste flatbread and cured meat in the same way as the people did in the old days on their journeys through the valley.

- An easy 3-3.5 hour trip. Bike, helmet and tasting included.

- Recommended equipment: Good walking shoes, clothing adapted to weather conditions, drink.

- Season: May-September

Adventure Tours also has bike rental for those who want to explore the area on their own.

Veitastrond - Tungestølen

A rare gem of a cycle path, one of Norway's national cycle routes. From Hafslo, you cycle inwards towards Veitastrond along Veitastrond Lake, surrounded by high mountains and a powerful natural landscape. Veitastrond is one of Norway's most remote rural communities, known for its good goat cheese.

It is possible to extend the hike further inwards to Tungestølen, where the trail starts up to Austerdalsbreen, with the Odin and Tor glacier falls. These are described by the English mountain man Slingsby as "The most beatiful glacier in Europe".

Hafslo – Veitastrond: 30 km
Veitastrond – Tungestølen: 12 km
