Nes Gard is located on national highway 55, between Sogndal and Sognefjellet.

For many, the trip over Sognefjellet is the most exciting choice of route, with many natural gems along the way. Great views of the peaks and summits of Jotunheimen.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES FROM OSLO

  • Through Hallingdal and over Hemsedalsfjellet.
    The road is open all year round and is the fastest road from Oslo to Nes Gard.

  • Through Valdres and over Filefjell (E16)

  • Through Gudbrandsdalen and over Sognefjellet (E6/R55)

  • Through Valdres, further over Valdresflya and Sognefjellet.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES FROM BERGEN

  • E16 via Voss, Flåm and Aurland. Through the world's longest car tunnel to Lærdal. Highway 5 towards Sogndal, ferry from Fodnes to Mannhiller and further along highway 55 to Nes.

  • As an alternative to the Lærdal tunnel, someone from Aurland can drive over the mountain. Great mountain pass!

  • E16 to Vinje, along national road 13 over Vikafjellet to Vik and Vangsnes. Ferry to Hella and further along highway 55 around Sogndal to Nes. Don't forget the Statue of Liberty at Vangsnes!

  • Via Hardanger: E16 to Trengereid, along highway 7 over Kvamskogen to Norheimsund. Continue to Granvin, where you follow national road 13 to Voss. From here you can choose one of the two options mentioned above.

PUBLIC COMMUNICATION:

  • Express bus: From Oslo, Bergen and Lillehammer to Sogndal every day.

  • Express boat: From Bergen to Sogndal every day

  • Train: Train to Flåm, with express bus on to Sogndal.

  • Flight: Daily flight connection from Oslo and Bergen to Sogndal.

  • Local bus on from Sogndal to Nes, or we pick up in Sogndal by agreement.
