One of the most visited attractions in Indre Sogn is undoubtedly Nigardsbreen. It takes approx. 45 minutes to drive from Nes Gard to the car park at Lake Nigardsvatnet. Here a boat goes over the water and into the glacier.

Jostedalen Breførarlag offers daily trips into the glacier, some easy family trips and other more demanding trips.

Bergset glacier

Parking space and starting point at the top of Krundalen.

In Krundalen, another side valley to Jostedalen, you will find the adventurous Bergsetbreen. This glacier falls covers an entire rock face, and is a powerful sight. Easy walk for approx. an hour to the glacier.

Keep a good distance from the glacier!
 

The butter stick

When you drive over Sognefjellet, Smørstabbreen spreads out in all its glory, and tempts you to try it out in more detail.


Parking at Krossbu. Ropes and crampons are necessary here. Many well-known 2,000 meter peaks surround the glacier, such as Storebjørn, Saksa and Skeia.
 

Glacier hiking on Tunsbergdalsbreen

Meeting place: Leirdalen. Follow Rv 55 to Gaupne, turn off towards Jostedal, Fv 604. After 10 km, take a left towards Leirdal.

The trip starts with a RIB boat trip on Tunsbergsdalsvatnet, the crossing takes 15 minutes. You then go on a short hike of about 1 1/2 hours, up to the glacier edge of Tunsbergsdalsbreen, Norway's longest glacier arm. Crampons, ice axes and harnesses are distributed in a lavvo near the edge of the glacier. Then begins a two-hour glacier hike along deep crevasses and under tall ice towers. We explore ice caves and tunnels on the way.

After the tour, there is a lunch break and freshly brewed coffee is served in the lavatory.

Hike back down to the water and by boat to the car park.
